THE CURRICULUM

Working collaboratively to ensure every student achieves academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are committed to a broad and balanced provision which is built upon the National Curriculum but which uses the flexibility within it to be innovative and to meet students’ individual needs over and above what would normally be expected.

Students are examined in a broad range of subjects with a focus on rigorous, traditional subjects including sciences and modern foreign languages.

ESF has a long-held commitment to the importance of competence in literacy and numeracy, believing also that drama, music, creative arts and sport are vital in supporting the all-round nature of our education.

We value academic excellence but we place greater emphasis on character development. We encourage all our young people, of all abilities and backgrounds, to develop strong character shaped by values such as determination, integrity and compassion, and these are embodied in our core values.

Critical to our students’ personal development are the opportunities for volunteering that we provide, alongside our expectation that students involve themselves in charity work at home and overseas. In addition to this we have developed a series of annual challenges, including a variety of residential trips, our Tall Ship voyage, our ESF-wide rugby Lions and hockey Pumas tours, the Business Game and involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Students are thus given access to a range of activities that they may otherwise never experience and are able to form memories and friendships which they may treasure forever.

"At Emmanuel Schools Foundation, our curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad and balanced education that prepares them for a lifetime of success."
