Allow me to take this opportunity to give you a brief introduction to our school. I have been involved with Grace College since the school joined Emmanuel Schools Foundation in 2019 and since April 2023 have held responsibility as Lead Principal for Grace College as well as having oversight of our sister school in Gateshead, Emmanuel College.

I am privileged to be able to co-lead Grace College with Mrs Rachael Hooker who is Head of School (pictured below). Our shared commitment is to see all young people at Grace College, whatever their background or starting point, achieve their personal best in the classroom and beyond so that they are ready to face the challenges of adult life with enthusiasm and confidence and that this will lead to flourishing for each individual and the communities in which they live and work.

As part of Emmanuel Schools Foundation, we are a Christian ethos school of character for the whole community which serves over 1200 young people aged 11-19 in central Gateshead.  Our mission focusses on Character education, Curriculum excellence and Community engagement and all we do is underpinned by our core virtues of love, wisdom, fairness, self-control, courage, humility, and integrity.   Our aim is to ensure that everyone in the Grace College community is valued, challenged and inspired.  By being part of Grace College, students have an opportunity to work hard to achieve their personal best and to focus on their personal, moral and spiritual development within a Christian framework.

We want our students to leave us with the knowledge they will need in adult life as well as the wisdom needed to apply this well in whatever situation they find themselves. The College is committed to assisting the economic regeneration and prosperity of the local area and the wider region of the north-east, and to improve the quality of community life through our work with young people. We serve a diverse community of students, staff and parents holding many different religious and ideological positions but unite around our mission and core virtues. We value academic excellence, but we hold personal best to be of far greater importance.  It is our experience that by developing a strong work ethic, holding a growth rather than fixed mind-set, and being provided with outstanding tuition, students may go on to achieve considerably more than they might have imagined possible. We seek to be intentional about character education, our aim being that our students will, in the future, become leaders seeking the greatness of others.
